  • The safari park is also home to other magnificent animals including Asian elephants and Siberian tigers! Thereafter, visit a local market and the Exhibition Hall in Shekou. See a set of the legendary Qin Dynasty terracotta warriors unearthed in Xian, alongside ancient bronze ware, pottery, porcelain and wall paintings from the Tang Dynasty.

Despite an elevation of over 900 metres, Tai Mo Shan is a hiker’s delight, with spectacular panoramic views of Hong Kong, Lantau and Shenzhen, seasonal flowers, misty greenery and cascading waterfalls. And there are several trails to the summit, offering varying difficulties to match your ability. You can even take a dip in the pools of sparkling clear water fed by the waterfalls. Make your descent through the Shing Mun reservoir to enjoy the area’s rich flora and fauna. This is a Hong Kong you’ve never seen before.
  • After returning to your hotel for a couple of hours of rest to recover from the day’s excursion, spend the evening exploring Kowloon. This crowded urban area is one of the most interesting in Hong Kong, blending old-world Chinese culture with the cosmopolitanism of modern Hong Kong.
  • Get your fortune told on Temple Street through a palm or face reading. Lose your way in Sham Shui Po amid the street markets, wet market and traditional Chinese pawn shops. Unwind over dinner at a trendy pub or restaurant in Mong Kok, one of Hong Kong’s most happening neighbourhoods.

At a mere one-hour ferry ride away from Hong Kong, it’s the perfect conclusion to your trip.
  • Spend the morning and afternoon exploring Macau’s colourful history through heritage walks, museums and ruins. Stroll along Largo de Senado square and Largo de Sao Domingo square to take a look at Igreja de Sao Domingos, an ornate 17th-century church in the Baroque style.
  • Thereafter, visit the ruins of the Church of St Paul, also from the 17th century. Only the tiered façade remains but it is a gorgeous piece of architecture with much of the rich Chinese detailing still present. Don’t forget to stop at the Macau Museum to understand how the development of Macau paralleled its Portuguese and Chinese influences.
  • The 16th-century A-Ma temple dedicated to the Chinese goddess of the sea is a transcendental experience. Or visit the Nu Wa temple, the only one in Macau dedicated to the Chinese equivalent of Mother Earth. Sample some of Macau’s scrumptious street fare and casual dining in between.
  • Come evening, head to The Bubble at the City of Dreams casino for a fabulous laser and light show depicting the legend of the Jade Emperor. Marvel at the grandeur of The Venetian Macao, the largest casino in the world and try your luck at the tables, if you dare! Fortunes have been made and broken here.
